Things to do: Rainy Days in New York

After nearly 14 days of consecutive sunshine, the first use of sunscreen, play dates in the park, alfresco lunch/dinners, and even a little escapade to central park for a picnic - summer finally seemed to have arrived.  Unfortunately for us, all good things come to an end! (Question to self: How do I entertain the little ones on a rainy day and keep us all from climbing the walls?)

With more rain forecast, here are a few suggestions from us at Enjemma.

Enjemma's Book Club: We are currently reading - The Tiger Who Came for Tea, Fancy Nancy and How to Catch a Star.

Enjemma's 3C's to Baking: You guested it..... Cake, Cupcakes and Cookies! It's a must on a rainy day.

Enjemma's Favourite TV Programmes: Yo Gabba Gabba, Dora, Peppa Pig and Charlie & Lola. We try not to watch too much of it, but let's face it, on a day like today it's OK! (Another note to self: I'm not a bad parent for letting them watch TV!)

Enjemma's Music Play List : Playing music equals dancing and having fun! Music for Aardvarks and Other Mammals,  Music for Ardvarks  Putumayo Kids Presents African Playground Putumayo Kids
Finally, find out what the buzz-about GT Solo (one for the grown-ups) GT Solo's Youtube Hit Video is all about. This up and coming rap artist from London has been discribed as the next Tinie Tempah. One of our guest editors tipped us about him a while a ago! His currently touring the UK with Wiley, catch a show if you can.

Enjemma's Favourite Book Shop and Museum: If you chose to venue out, then Barnes and Noble Barnes and Noble Kids Book and The American Museum of Natural History AMNH  are a must!

If all else fails, then teach your child how to make a paper airplane - It's my husbands favourite kids trick and it always works!
  1. Fold a piece of copier paper in half lengthwise
  2. With the crease closest to you, fold the top right corner down so that it lines up with the bottom crease.
  3. Do the same thing on the other side.
  4. Grab the top corner on one side and bend it downward so the crease on top of the paper is lined up with the crease at the bottom.
  5. Turn the plane over and fold the other side the same way.
  6. Fold it in the same manner one more time, by taking the top crease and lining it up with the bottom crease and folding.
  7. Lather rinse, repeat on the other side.
  8. Then fold the last two creases outward perpendicular to the bottom of the plane.
  9. Fly away!
